Submissions
World Poetry Review is open for submissions for two issues per year, during the months of August and February. Instructions for submission will be added to this website on August 1st and February 1st, and will be available for the duration of the call.
Submission Requirements:
- Submissions should be sent by email by the translator of the works. If there are multiple translators for the submission, one translator may submit with the other cc’d.
- Submissions should include poems by a single poet. We typically aim to include a minimum of four poems, though some selections may include fewer, or even a single poem, if the translations are longer in length.
- WPR requires that translators ensure that permissions have been secured from the relevant party prior to submission. WPR cannot assist with the securing of permissions.
WPR may choose to publish select poems from a submission. If your submission is accepted, we will let you know which poems we would like to publish.
Your submission should include two documents:
- A Word document that includes short bios of both the poet and the translator (no more than 110 words each). Title the file: TranslatorLastName_bios
- The translation submission (all included poems) in a single Word document. Please use single-spacing and 12 pt. Arial font, unless the poems you are translating require multiple font sizes or have different spacing or formatting requirements. Please format the poems as you would like them to appear in publication. If the translations are accepted, WPR may additionally request a .pdf of your translations for formatting purposes when preparing for publication. Title the file: TranslatorLastName_Poetlastname
The heading of your document should include the information below:
Source poet's name:
Translator's name(s):
Source language:
Number of poems submitted:
